About Us - Community Outreach

As we fulfill our mission to offer hospitality, healing and hope in the name of Jesus Christ, our parish engages in a number of activities that provide assistance and comfort to those in need. Highlights of our outreach programs include:

Mission Grants Program - Funded from the Christ Church endowment, annual grants are awarded to worthwhile community initiatives. Applications must be sponsored by a church member and submitted by July 2. The application review process is conducted by the Missions Committee, which recommends awards for Vestry approval. Recipients are notified by November. Click here for Application Guidelines.

Community Thanksgiving Dinner - Since 1992, Christ Church has hosted a traditional Thanksgiving dinner that is open to everyone in the Corning community. The meal is prepared and served by volunteers from the parish.

Giving Tree - Each year, the Missions Committee identifies a number of needy families in our community who need extra help to make a traditional Christmas possible. Our church members donate gifts for children, baked goods and other requested items for these families who otherwise would be left wanting at this special time of year.

Seeds of Compassion - In response to requests from organizations serving the impoverished in the Corning area, Christ Church issues email communication to alert parishioners of specific needs. These requests are typically require an immediate response for donations of household items and other material goods. Church members consistently and generously answer the call.

The Child Care Center at Christ Church - Located in the Christ Church facility, this is a fully accredited child care center serving children from infancy through the pre-school years. A sliding fee scale and scholarships are available.
